The end of the canyon

IMG_9356.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

This is the end of West Rock Canyon. We walked all the way to the end one afternoon. It was a nice - hot - dry walk, with beautiful views. I say is was a walk and it mostly was, we only had to climb some of the time.

Jurasic rock

It looks like someone actually wrote on these rocks, but it is actually part of the rock. We read in a book that is was formed during the Jurasic period. It was pretty neat.

Towards the end of West Rock Canyon. What a view!

Thank goodness

for video games. There is nothing like "camping" with Nintendo aboard ship. We even had a Wii The kids got pretty good at tennis and bowling while aboard at night!

Just hold me and feed me and I am happy. Too bad my eyes were closed!

Ruston's Done!

He has had it. It has been enough. This is one of his pouty fits of furry. Too cute.

Monument Valley

IMG_9455.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

Now, on our way to Lake Powell, I drove the second part after Denver at night. The roads were Terrible, no shoulders, and rough. I gripped about it all night and the next day. It wasn't until our trip home that we realized that part of the trip was actually through the Navajo Nation and right through the middle of Monument Valley. Needless to say it was a better trip in day light!

Mexican Hat

IMG_9475.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

This rock formation was just outside of, well, Mexican Hat, Utah. Obviously named after the rock formation. Wonder how long this is going to stay this way. I also thought the mountains in the back ground were pretty.

Arch along the way

We saw this arch on the way home. It is really amazing what nature can do.

Yep at the gas station. It was a long ride home and they would do anything to get out of the car!

Going to night shift

Well, I just posted a bunch more pictures of the kids, including some of Ani's birthday party last week. I am staying up late tonight in an attempt to roll over to night shift. My first night is tomorrow night. I am not really looking forward to it, mostly because I will not get to see the kids very much. The good part is we have a vacation planned at the end of May, so I can make up for it then I guess. Unfortunately, you probably wont see much for new pictures until after I get to see the light of day again in about a month. So, much love to you all, enjoy the pictures!

Scooter time

Scooter time, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

Finally, we have him ON the scooter instead of pushing the scooter! Virgel was pushing him around and he finally agreed that is was a little bit more fun. I think we are still a little time away from him powering the scooter on his own!

Driving

Driving, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

Brother was playing on her toys so, fair is fair. We are struggling with sharing these days. Neither one likes it, except when they are the one getting to play with something. It didn't take long before Ruston wanted his car back. It was easy to tell when he went running to his car yelling "MINE"

Ahhh, Dirt!

Ahhh, Dirt!, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

Finally, he gets to play in dirt. He really is all boy. Ani has no interest in playing in the dirt and he was as happy as he could be. Hopefully we will plant some grass soon. Well, it will make me happy. Maybe I should leave a little spot of dirt for my boy!

Sliding

Ani wont go anywhere these days with out a baby in her arms. Hey, anyone volunteer to come brush that hair. Yikes, what a mess. Here is one more Nebraska thing we have learned - it is windy here.

Cutie

Outside finally. Still wearing jackets, but at least outside.

What???

What???, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

I told you Ruston liked that make up kit. This isn't the last time we caught him putting the lip gloss all over his cheeks. He is so proud of himself!

Presents

Presents, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

Finally, she gets to open the presents. Princess Barbies with matching horses, a chest of dress up clothes, an Aurora dress up outfit, a makeup kit (Ruston likes that one to) and a Barbie doll house. All in all a pretty good haul! And a good birthday.

In a box

In a box, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

I bought a canister of helium for balloons and Ani actually fit inside. It is hard to see the size, but it is really small! I was even able to close the lid.

Make a wish

Make a wish, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

Time for cake. Ani picked out this cake all on her own. I had a hard time figuring out where to put the candles! She blew them all out on her first try. Then I had to figure out how to cut it!!! That was the hard part. As you can see Ruston showed up for the food! Mamaw kept him entertained during the party. She enjoyed being at Ani's birthday party for the first time.

Pin the patch on the pirate

Pin the patch on the pirate, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

Spin them around three times and see where they go. They were pretty cute. There were a couple of cheaters among the group, they got the patch right where it was suppose to go. Hummm. suspicious!!!

Treasure chests

Treasure chests, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

All of the princesses had treasure chests with jewels to decorate them with. They had a lot of fun. After they were decorated it was time to fill them with TREASURE. Pirates had hidden golden coins all through the living room for them to find. They had a lot of fun hunting for them. I think the main Pirate (me) hid some of them a little bit to well. We had to help them out just a little!

Princesses and Priates

Princesses and Priates, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

Happy Birthday Ani!!! You are 5. I can't believe it. You are such a big girl. We had a Pirate and Princess party. We only had one pirate and unfortunately he was a crying pirate. His sister was a crying princess as well - the one sitting next to him. They didn't stay long, their dad had to take them home. The rest of the princess had a good time! It was so fun having them all dress up in the same dress.

tickles

Ruston has the best laugh ever and just loves to be tickled! Of course, that means he gets tickled a LOT!

Sliding

IMG_8638.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

He will do exactly what Ani does, or at least try. So when she went for the big slide so did he. He laughed all the way down. I wish we could have let them play longer, but he has been so sick that we were afraid to let him get too cold! We are starting to see his true little temper and it came out again when we left the park!!
We hope you all had a Great Easter. Miss you and love you all!

A few minutes at the park

IMG_8637.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

We played at the park for a little while. We were hoping that the wind wouldn't blow, but it was so we didn't stay long. They both enjoyed the slide and were not happy when we made them leave. After all, it was only 40 degrees!!!

Ridin

IMG_8619.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

at least for 30 seconds, then she crashed and that was the last of riding this scooter in the house. This one could make a mess of the floor! We let her ride it in the garage and in just a few minutes she got the hand of it. No riding without the helment, though!

What is in those baskets??

IMG_8618.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

Ani made sure to find out everything that was in the baskets and was pretty happy to find the M&Ms on the bottom!!

The Easter Bunny came!

IMG_8613.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

Ani woke us up and told us the Easter Bunny had come while she was sleeping. More importantly, he brought them scooters. Ruston grabbed his right away and started pushing it around. We tried to get him to ride it, but he seemed to like pushing it this way the best for now!

Eggs!

IMG_8610.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

The kids had lots of fun decorating the eggs this year. Ani was obviously dressed up as Snow White for the day. We made it through without too much color on things other than the eggs!

Peak a boo

Ruston was hiding in our closet from Virgel when he told him it was time to take a shower.

Still here, just BUSY!

Well, I have just posted a bunch of pictures of the kids. Hopefully, that will help. Sorry it has been so long. We have been so busy and working a ton. I have been very busy with work and working most days on the weekends. So, that doesn't leave a lot of time for, well anything including blogging. I will be going on nightshift for a month soon, so you can expect to not see much from me for all of April. We have been getting ready for Ani's 5th birthday party. I can't believe she is already going to be 5! I called and started her registration for school last week. It seems like yesterday, she was that tiny baby in my arms. I know before I know it she will be grown. She wants to have a party, so we are planning one for the 30th. She keeps asking when it is time for her party. Hope to see pictures of that soon!!!

Dressing by herself

IMG_8567.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

Yup, I have a lot of work to do. This is what my beautiful daughter decided to wear. I told her it was cold and she had to wear something warmer. So, she sort of got it. She put on what I told her, then what she wanted over the top. For a total of three shirts! Stubborn doesn't even begin to describe it!

Elefun!

IMG_8575.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

Catchin' the butterflies. They had a great time playing. Ruston couldn't catch very many so he would pick them off of the floor.

pouring concrete

IMG_8577.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

I know this isn't an exciting picture for you, but if you knew what we have gone through waiting for this driveway, it would be. We were thrilled to see that they were working on the driveway when we woke up. Soon the concrete truck was on its way. No more driving in the mud, no more mud in the garage, no more muddy shoes. Of course, it all would have been a little better if we had a little grass. That is next !

Choo choo

IMG_8555.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

Ruston loves playing with his trains. I am not sure where the hat came in. Maybe it has something to do with being born in Florida???

Happy Valentines Day

IMG_8563.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

Mamaw got both the kids heart balloon for Valentine's Day. They loved them. They both had a great day at school and at the Valentine's parties. They were both on sugar highs when they got home. We finally had to hide the candy!

Playing together

IMG_8573.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

They are so cute playing together.

Picaso or Ruston???

IMG_8576.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

Yep, Ruston. He likes to color a LOT! The walls are his favorite. Thank goodness for Magic Erasers. This was only his first artistic expression. He has since colored this very wall - to a larger scale - three times. Now you are thinking, take the crayons away. I have, they have them hidden. I am sure of it. He keeps finding one. I think he stashed them. We have been a week with no more drawings, maybe I have them all!

ELMO!

IMG_8582.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

Ruston has discovered Elmo. This was Ani's Elmo that he now loves. He was giving it rides through the house. I asked him what he had he said E -L - M - O !

New Baby!

IMG_8585.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

Mamaw bought Ani a new baby at Wal-Mart and she loves it. Of course, Ariel is her favorite. She has taken it to school everyday and reads to it every nights. Too, cute. She asked me to take a picture of her with it!

Kisses

IMG_8586.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

Someone has learned to give kisses. He and sister love each other. They will hate to see this picture in their teenage years when they are fighting. I think I will make a big one and hang it up in their rooms to make sure they remember that they really do love each other!

Eating supper

and watching TV. His smile is just so cute.

Cheese!

I told ya, He had to say cheese. He is as bad as Ani when he sees the camera.

Watchin TV

IMG_8592.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

He is too cute. Just lounging on the couch watch cartoons. Of course, when he found out I was taking his picture, he had to say Cheese.

It's gone, really gone

After all of these months the snow is finally gone. We have had a couple of days in the 60's and snow gave up its grip and melted. Even better, we might actually get a drive way tomorrow! No more mud. For those of you that don't know most of our drive way was poured before we moved in, but our road wasn't finished, so neither was our driveway. Our road was finished a day or two before the first snow and well - it has been frozen ever since. Well, mostly. When it got above freezing the yard just turned into a giant muddy mess. So, hopefully, if it doesn't rain, no no more mud. Of course, the next task is getting some grass! With the couple of days of 60 degree weather the kids have loved being outside. It is amazing how good 60 degrees and sunshine can feel. So, hopefully, the 70% chance of snow for this weekend doesn't happen!!!!

More snow

IMG_8553.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

Mamaw watch the kids for us and we got a lot of snow, about 7 inches. She had planned on going to her house (4 houses down from ours) in the afternoon, but didn't make it. Unfortunately, she had already promised the kids they could go outside in the snow. So, when we go home, they were ready to play. It was late and the sun didn't last long, but they still had fun. Ruston likes putting his hands in the snow as long as he has his gloves on.

Well, it is a car

IMG_8533.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

Maybe Santa should have brought the blue one! Ani does like her pink Barbi VW, but not as much as Ruston like to push it around the house!

All by herself

IMG_8527.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

That is a theme of Ani's lately. Believe it or not it was about 6 degrees outside on the day she put this on.

Welcome home Daddy

IMG_8529.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

Virgel had to go on a trip for a week and Ani had the idea to make him a cake for when he came home. She decorated all by herself!

Is it Ruston or Godzilla??

IMG_8541.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

Well as far as Thomas the train is concerned, it is Godzilla. He was pretty proud of himself!

Train fun

IMG_8538.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

Ruston loves playing with his train set in his room. Well, let me rephrase that. We put the train together, and he loves tearing it apart!! Ani and As you can see, Ruston are never far from each other.

Daddy's hat

IMG_8510.JPG, originally uploaded by jodifurr.

Ruston had a lot of fun playing with Daddy''s hat the other night. The bad part is, he knows he is cute!
