You know I didn't teach her how to do this! Where did this come from. . . Where?

check out the tongue
Too, cute. I didn't even know that he stuck his tongue out until I looked at this picture. He has learned to say UP. After he slid down he would say UP, UP, UP!
one, two, three
Ruston has learned to slide all on his own down the big slide. He waits until you count one, two three!
I got flowers for momma
Ani and her friend McKinley had the very best time picking 'flowers' for me. I can't believe the pictures of her I just "catch". She knows when I am taking pictures and gives me these little poses. Those eyes, of those eyes!
Back home. . .

Going on a trip
a day at the zoo
A day at the Omaha Zoo. We went with some new friends of ours John and Amy. They have two little girls McKinley, 5 and Regan, 1. Ani and Ruston get along with them amazingly. Ani told me that McKinley was her best friend - and Brad too! It wasn't too hot the day we went and we all had a great time.
ridin' on an elephant
Ani and Ruston riding on the elephant. Ruston had great time at the zoo. He growled at the animals all day!
elephant fun
Ani and her new friend McKinley had a great time. We couldn't resist taking a picture of them on the little elephant statue.
sleepin in my wagon
Well, not everyone was excited about the animals. Ruston held on as long as he could, but the dark areas of the aquarium were just too much. He was pretty comfy in his little red wagon.
amazing turtle
The aquarium area has a tunnel you walk through. As we walked through this beautiful sea turtle swam over us. The kids wanted to stay in there forever.
octopus
Ani LOVES anything that is in the water. She loved looking at this octopus and watching it move around!
four gigglin little ones
Ruston, Ani, McKinley, and Regan had a great time. The gorilla exhibits had windows that expanded into the area. They had so much fun laying in it. The next window we got to had a gorilla right underneath it! The kids loved it. There was one gorilla that was getting everyones attention by hitting the exhibit wall. There strength is amazing!
playing with the world
At the end of our day at the zoo, all the kids played with a giant granite globe that floats on a film of water. They enjoyed it and all of them ended up getting wet. We had to go buy them new clothes so we could go eat dinner!

I'm still here!
What a mess
So, I have started watching America's Next Top Model. Now I realize this is a silly show, but I like it. I really like seeing the photographs that the girls take. Of course, Ani has been watching it with me. So NOW when I take her picture, I get "model poses". Oh, my. Now what am I going to do with her!!!
funny face
What a silly boy. Ruston is so funny. He tries to imitate anything we do. I showed him how to make this silly face at dinner!

tiger
Aunt Lynda and Aunt Sue gave Ani and Ruston tigers when they came to visit us in Florida. It is the only stuffed animal he likes. The other day in the car he was growling at it. It was too cute.
OUR HOME!
This is the living room. The battle over what floors to install was a good one to win! I wanted the teak floors and Virgel wanted mesquite. The teak turned out more beautiful than I anticipated.
kitchen
My most awesome kitchen! Love how the kitchen turned out. I thought I would never finish all the tile, but it was worth it.
master bath
Here is our master bath tub. This took Virgel a LONG time to get done. But it did turn out beautifully!
uummmm!
The best part is eating it. He really liked it. I had to save the shirt so off it came. He didn't seem to mind.
A roller skating 1 year old!
That is right, he was skating on his own. At first he held on tight, but before long he pushed my hands away. The wheels were tightened up so they didn't roll real easily, but they still rolled! He absolutely had a blast. When he would fall on his bottom, he would just laugh and laugh! It was a lot of fun to watch him.
ruston's cake
Of course, Ruston had to have a cake all his own! He loved the little frog on top. He spent a while chewing on it. I let him have it until he got the whole gum ball in his mouth.
Party time!
We made it to Arkansas last weekend and celebrated Ruston's birthday. We had it at the skating rink in Russellivlle. It was a good party with family. We don't get to do that too often since we have always lived far away from everyone. Thanks for your help, Denise, in getting Ruston such an adorable cake!
my new bed!
Somebody got a new BIG boy bed. Since my little guy hasn't been in his crib since we left Florida and he is starting to climb, we decided it was time to put him in a big bed instead of his crib. He really likes it. He and Ani played on it for a long time after we put it together. I can't believe how big he is getting!
balance beam
This is one of Ani's favorite activities in gymnastics. She was so proud that she didn't fall off!!

The cake
Guess who is already a year old??? Yep, Ruston. I can't believe how fast this year has gone by and once again how much in our lives has changed. I wouldn't change any of it and we are so blessed to have so much in our lives. It has been a wonderful day as you can see in the posts below. I am thrilled I was able to spend it with the two most important things in my life, my beautiful, wonderful, amazing, loving children. Who could ask for anything more?
Happy BIRTHDAY RUSTON !
We had a little celebration for Ruston's birthday with a little star cake. We will have a party for him once we are settled in our new house.
Ooohhhh. This is fun
So why is this stuff sticking to my hand? He tried to swing his had to get the frosting off and started throwing it everywhere.
field trip day!
The whole gang! We spent the morning at the Lincoln Children's Museum. There were 12 kids and four adults, including myself - what was I thinking??? I loved it and so did the kids. Ani is the easy one to pick out in the photo since she is the only one NOT wearing a blue shirt. Dad forgot to relay that message! Oh well.
fireman Ani
Ani got into the fireman action just like Ruston. She had a blast playing on this firetruck. The jacket fit, almost!!!
What is cuter?
This has to be one of my favorite pictures of my little man! I had an absolute wonderful day watching his face light up at every new discovery.
Fireman Ruston
Ruston had an absolute blast playing at the museum. He loved this fire truck. He sat in it and played for the longest time. It was a lot of fun watching him explore everything that was there. He wants to touch everything to figure out what it is like.
peak a boo
The kids love playing peek a boo in the kitchen cupboards. They were each on one side and would open the door in front of them one at a time. Ani would move to another cupboard and Ruston would start opening all the doors until he found her. Then he would climb on it. It was too cute. I was glad they were having fun while Virgel and I were finishing up a little work on the house that night!
kids in a cupboard
Both of the kids love this cupboard. Ruston climbs in it every time we go to the house.
Can I get in?
Ruston is pretty sure he would fit in this drawer. He just hasn't figured out how to get in there!
Gymnastics
Ani has started taking gymnastics and she loves it. She doesn't like the exercises so much. She is doing really well and is proud of herself when she can do what the coach asks her to do. Her coach has started calling her 'Giggles' because she giggles the entire class, a clear sign she is enjoying it!
uneven bar
Ani was so proud of how strong she was. She did really well, I was a little surprised at how she was able to jump up and hold herself there!
